On Tuesday after our guests had finished one of our cow cuddling sessions farmer Will took a guest down the field to go and visit their sponsored cow Martha to find that Helena had a little black calf the second one of the year.
This little lad let us know very quickly that he had been getting fed very well by having a big poo as soon as he stood up which was very helpful since the two of them as in the fields furthest away from the farm.
This is Helena’s 3rd calf last year she had Seaums who you can meet at the farm in the fluffies pen and before that she had Raven who has now moved up to Scotland. We are still deciding on a name for this young boy but a favourite of farmer Fi and some of our conservation volunteers is Troy based of the greek myth about Helena of Troy, farmer James isn’t as convinced. Killian the new social media person likes the name Gerard after the lead singer of My Chemical Romance who have a song called Helena.
