FAQ's
Are you open all year round?
Yes. We have to fit the experiences and tours around our farm and conservation work, the animals life cycles and the seasons of the year. So the experiences on offer do vary throughout the year.
Our Luxury Highland cow themed Yurts and hardstanding pitches on our campsite are also open year round.
Do you do gift vouchers?
No, we don’t sell gift vouchers for our experiences.
Are children allowed?
All our main experiences, tours and accommodation options are adult only.
Children are welcome during the day in the coffee courtyard and to do the walking routes around the farm. Children are also welcome for food in The Boozy Coo bar up until 7:30pm.
We may have occasional one off events that children are also able to attend.
Can I bring my dog?
Dogs are not allowed on any of our experiences and tours, or on our campsite. Dogs are welcome in our coffee courtyard, Boozy Coo bar and along the public footpath walking route around the farm.
Travel and transport?
Dumble Farm has ample parking for people arriving by car and a bike rack for cyclists. There is also a train station in our village of Arram, which is a 10 minute walk away.
Can we stay near by?
Yes! Dumble Farm has its own Glamping and campsite. We have 4 luxury Highland cow themed Yurts, and 5 hardstanding pitches for campervans etc that are open all year round. We also have 3 tent pitches available over the summer months.
Can I visit my sponsored cow?
Yes! If you want to visit a sponsored cow, the best thing is to book onto one of our Highland cow safaris. or any experiences that includes a safari. We do not offer private meetings.
Can someone watch/take pictures without a ticket?
We don’t allow spectators, they can distract the cows which is unfair on the other guests.
Can we just turn up?
All our experiences, tours and accommodation must be booked in advance through our website. The walking routes around the farm are open all the time and available to anyone. Our coffee courtyard is also open to the public most daytimes.
Disabled access
Unfortunately none of our experiences and tours are currently wheelchair accessible. We have just put in for permission for a new events space and accessible toilet (we currently don’t have one), but this won’t be ready until next year.
Mobility issues
Our cow cuddling sessions require good levels of mobility. Guests need to be able to sit on the floor next to the cows and be able to get back up again easily.
Over the winter cow cuddling also includes Highland cow trekking, so guests need to be able to walk one of our young Highlands on a halter.
If you have mobility issues please email us for advice on which tour to book.
Visiting while Pregnant
Obviously there is always a small risk of infection from interacting with animals.
Public health England states that pregnant women need to take particular care as infections acquired from animals can be harmful to them and their unborn baby. Always wash hands thoroughly after interacting with the cows (we have plenty of handwashing facilities).
There is also a risk of getting knocked etc by the cows.
So essentially it’s up to you and whether you feel comfortable doing it? Cow cuddling is very hands on with lots of interaction with the cows.
Discounts
Unfortunately we don’t offer any kinds of discounts for carers etc. With our farm now being run as a conservation scheme and our experiences only being for small groups and running just a few times a week, we simply can’t afford to.
Are you a beef herd or a sanctuary?
We run our farm as a conservation project. Our cows are here as conservation grazers, they play a vital part in habitat creation and management. We’re also part of a native breeds at risk breeding program but we’re not rearing cows for beef.
With us being part of a breeding program we will be moving animals on, this is integral to maintaining genetic diversity, both in our herd and the breed as a whole. Any cows that are sold we hope will go as pets or onto other conservation sites. Yorkshire wildlife trust are taking quite a few cows from us to go onto their expanding nature reserves. We’ve also had people with smallholdings etc who are interested in taking small numbers essentially as pets.
We will point out though, that once a cow has left our farm we have no say on what happens to them.
Bookings for our experiences, tours, campsite & glamping have to be made through the relevant pages on our website.
