Owlets!

We are so delighted to have barn owls nesting in our old granary. There are 4 owlets and we have put up a wildlife camera so we can monitor them.

The parents constantly fly in and out during the night, taking food to the youngsters, who greedily take it.

The owlets are clearly hatched over several weeks, one is like a ball of fluff, whilst another is close to flying.

They are not always safe of course, we found one of the youngsters on the ground outside the shed, it was one of the younger ones and had maybe fallen from the nest. As the farm cat was lurking and the little bird clearly couldn’t get back into the shed, farmer Will carefully placed it back in the nest.

Happily all the baby owls looked happy in the nest the following day and the parents were still in and out with food.
