TEAM CUDDLE

I thought it was about time I gave you a proper introduction to our amazing Cow Cuddling team.

They really are fantastic and love giving and receiving cuddles 🙂 It did of course take both the cows and us Dumble Farmers quite a while to practice and perfect the ideal cuddling situation, but as we often get visitors travel several hours to cuddle a cow, we wanted to make sure they could!

The cows have just got better and better, so much so, they were awarded the Remarkable East Yorkshire Tourism Award for the best experience. Sadly for the cows, they were not able to go the glittering award ceremony at Bridlington Spa, but us Dumble Farmers went on their behalf.

So to introductions:

Above is the adorable and very affectionate Soft Face, so called because her face is very soft 🙂 She is a very nurturing dairy cow, often grooming the other cows and also sometimes us or the guests, there is nothing like being licked by a loving cow!

Next is British Blue Cuddle Puff, there is a long explanation behind her name that we share with our cow cuddling visitors, too complicated for here! Cuddle Puff gave birth to twins last year Seven and Eleven; they could not have been more different. Eleven was excitable and shy and was never going to be a cuddle cow, she is helping with conservation grazing. Seven can be seen in the picture below, as you can see, she is like a live teddy bear, born to be cuddled. Seven is just over a year old and adores snuggling up the guests whilst they stroke and brush her.

Above Crocus is enjoying a really big cuddle, she is a dairy breed cow and older sister of Soft Face. Crocus is almost eight years old and when she was milking would have been producing over 50 litres of milk a day! Crocus has two cuddle cow daughters, a two year old called Saffron and a one year old called Myrtle. Looking on is Rodney our youngest of the cuddle team, he was actually born during a cow cuddling session, but onto that in a moment….

Next for six year old Cloud, not during a cuddle session, but I just love the photo; it sums up Cloud perfectly! Cloud is the most confident and characterful dairy breed cow. We have so many stories about Cloud that we share with our guests, she is total star, there has always been something very special about her.

Rodney is Cloud’s calf, born in September 2024, during a cow cuddling session. Only Cloud! All the guests got to witness Cloud in the adjacent pen, giving birth to Rodney, by the time the session finished little Rod was up and having a drink. One of the guests named him and recently returned to give him a lovely cuddle.

This is Angus, he a two year old Highland steer. Angus has always been very affectionate, so a couple of months ago, we decided to see if he would like to be a cuddle cow. Oh yes! He adores it! So much so, has has gained the nickname ‘the rug’, as he loves to sprawl and doze whilst the guests groom and pamper him.

Now for Willow, a one year old Simmental cross; extremely confident and often naughty. But she loves our guests to sit close to her whilst she affectionately puts her head on their lap.

Baby Face is the 11 month old daughter of Soft Face. A very affectionate girl just like her mum. When she isn’t sitting being cuddled, she loves to have her chin groomed, that is the half Highland side of her!

Myrtle is the daughter of Crocus, very closely related to Baby Face and just as cuddly!

Myrtle’s older sister Saffron takes pamper sessions to the extreme! She likes to lie on her side and have her tummy rubbed, she is like a big puppy!

Last but not least is Highland boy River. At nearly 2 years old and new to the cuddle pen, he still in training; but he is very friendly and we are sure that soon he will be fully incorporated into the cuddle sessions 🙂
